Dear Young
Scientists:
Last week we
started to learn how scientists work.
All good scientists use scientific methods to plan and conduct
theirstudies. This involves making
observations as well as asking questions, investigating, calculating, comparing,
classifying, experimenting, and communicating.
To learn more about how scientists compare or classify objects, we will
do a fun activity in class with autumn leaves.
Your assignment is
to collect 5 to 10 leaves from your yard or neighborhood. I ask that you mostly look for leaves that
have fallen from trees instead of picking leaves off trees or plants. Try to find as many different kinds of leaves
that you can and put them in the bag to bring to school. On Monday, we will work in groups to compare
and classify our items.
Thank you for your
hard work; happy collecting!
Ms.
Coffman
