There are FIVE main groups of vertebrates: this means that
they have a backbone and an internal skeleton rather than an outside shell or
exoskeleton. These groups are:

Most have
tails (excluding us)

with fur
Breathe
with lungs
Born, live,
from parent
Birds:

with feathers

Doesn’t have teeth; swallows food
whole or crushes it
Hatch from

Amphibians:

moist skin; many have webbed feet

Usually go

Cold-blooded
Hatch from

ONLY an
amphibian has a backbone, bare skin, and breathes in different ways

Not all animals that live in the
water are fish (ex. Dolphins, seals, starfish, and whales)
