Dear
Parents,
After many weeks of delays and
absences, we had a solid week of strong learning. We wrapped up two units in social studies and
math (apologies to all for the back to back tests). We started our ecosystem unit in science and
spent some time appreciating the opportunity to connect with pen pals in France
(eagerly awaiting responses next month).
Finally, we assembled game boards to review the vocabulary and concepts
of chapter 5 in health. If you’ve heard
a lot about vaccines, immunization, or infectious diseases in the last week,
let me know. It will brighten my day!
Folks have asked about Valentine’s
Day and our plan is a rather simple one.
We’ll be on our Imagination Stage field trip for most of the morning and
will return for lunch and trip-reflection activity. I’ll host some brief content time before we
start our exchange of cards and do an experiment involving mixtures and
solutions. A student list was sent home
last week for those wanting to exchange cards.
We will have our annual Curriculum Day on
Wednesday February 19th from 9:30-11:30. This is an opportunity for you to rotate
through several learning activities with your child. I hope you will be able to join us. A third grade schedule will follow soon.
Your child brought home information about our
annual Wax Museum project earlier this week.
There are several due dates for this month long project. Please help your child pace their work at
home. MORE INFORMATION IS TO COME NEXT
WEEK ABOUT NOTECARDS, PRESENTATION, AND MORE!
Parent Teacher conferences will be March 7th and
8th. I am able to offer only a limited
number of “early bird” conference times and will send a schedule next week to
those that are interested. I’ve recently
met with a number of parents to discuss end of quarter progress. If you feel that a spring conference is not
necessary, just send an email or note.
Please know that I remain available at a later date to conference. Dates of importance follow:
