Success in the Savannah 4/12

Dear Parents-

I want to begin this week’s note by thanking everyone who was able to join us on Wednesday afternoon for our Wax Museum.  The children worked hard on their research and presentations over the past month.  It was wonderful to see how confident all the children were, as they became their person for the many visitors.

In addition to the Wax Museum we also held our “Soils Summit” on Wednesday morning.  This hands-on activity allowed the children to learn about weathering, layers of soil, plant in our AFAC garden and see how erosion and run-off can harm our watershed.  It was a warm, but active morning of learning.   I’d like to thank my parents who joined us and helped to make this morning such a success

The coming weeks will be quite busy both here at school as well as with all the afterschool activities in full gear.  I would like to remind you to please send a note if your child is attending an enrichment activity or going home with a friend.  Below are dates to put on your calendars for the coming month.  Please note the SOL testing dates.  Friday Folders will have additional information for many of these events as well.

Enjoy the weekend.
Ms. Coffman

Soils Day and Wax Museum

Reminder regarding our schedule tomorrow:

Soils Day outside from 9:15 to noon.  Please dress for hot weather, sunny conditions, and dirt!   We will then break for recess and lunch and start to prepare for the Wax Museum.  Parents/family members are welcome to attend the show in our classroom from 2 - 3 pm.  If you want to arrive a few minutes early to help your child or other children prepare, this is fine.  Do NOT come dressed for the Wax Museum as it is likely that costumes will be damaged or dirtied during our morning events.

Thank you!
